Contact and Access
Our Interim Pastor during the vacancy is Rev Nick Bowry. Nick is the Rector of St James the Less, Penicuk and St Mungo’s, West Linton. As a busy local Rector, he won’t be much available on Sundays but he is gifted in working with groups and his help will be very valuable as we work through the vacancy process. He can be contacted at rector@stjamesthelesspenicuik.org
You can also contact us via our Facebook page, where there are more details of upcoming events.
Weddings, Baptisms and Funerals
St Peter’s regularly hosts baptisms, weddings and funerals. Our baptisms are an important time to welcome our newest members to our church family, whether they are linked to our church or not. Our church provides a lovely intimate setting for a wedding and can normally accommodate about 100 guests. Please contact Rev Nick Bowry(above) in the first instance.
Getting to St Peter’s
You can find St Peter’s on the Eastgate, Peebles EH45 8AD. We’re right next to Peebles Post Office and the main Peebles bus stop.
By bus
Buses from Edinburgh and the Borders stop directly outside St Peter’s Church, including the X62 service. For details on services visit the Borders Bus website.
By car
If you are travelling by car, you approach Peebles on the A72 from Biggar or Galashiels, or the A703 from Edinburgh. There is a large car park (Eastgate) situated within a five minute walk of St Peter’s Church, which can be accessed from the Edinburgh Road (A703). Parking is free except on Saturdays, please do walk down to the pedestrian crossing near Veitch’s / Costa as traffic can be busy. As there is a bus stop and taxi rank in front of the church, it is not possible to drop people directly at the church.
Disabled Access
We have a ramp outside the church for wheelchair users. The nave is accessible by wheelchair but the sanctuary is up some steps. However, Communion can be brought to your seat. A loop system is in use at all our main services with subtle amplification for all. We have large print copies of the Liturgy and song books – please do ask.
Facilities
There is a toilet accessible via the Vestry door during services. Unfortunately this is not wheelchair accessible, and is up two steps, then through a narrow door.
